Artspace8 is the first studio space for Art Space Victoria,
a company established by Liz, Alice and Amelia Keep in May 2013. The idea developed from a desire to support artists in the local community. It was understood that artists found working from home isolating and they craved the company of others, conversation and sharing of ideas especially with fellow artists and creative people.
Having observed studios in Melbourne, it was important
to find a space with light and character, in a convenient location and with good amenities.
Upon finding the old 1960’s warehouse in a high profile and yet picturesque setting opposite the creek and parklands; large glass entrance doors were installed, security and WiFi connected, partitioned walls built, increased sky lights, new kitchen and bathroom facilities fitted, a beautiful native garden planted and indoor plants to create a studio and gallery space of an exceptional standard.
Artists have been hand selected based on the quality of their work and their ability to work within a communal environment.
We have held individual and group exhibitions, market days and fund raising events. The space is forever evolving, new artists bring with them new ideas, conversation and their own creative energy.
Artspace8 is a purpose built art studio, gallery and meeting place in the Industrial precinct in Mornington. A completely refurbished character filled 1950’s warehouse over-looking the creek and parklands. Positioned facing north and with large glass doors, there is a lot that is appealing to any artist or designer. We have a myriad of people enjoying the space, covering a variety of mediums and disciplines; textile design, ceramics, illustration, jewellery, painting and graphic design. Art classes and exhibitions also make use of the gallery space and can be used by both the resident artists and the public.
